Owen Dunbar has a faster time in the 100 free than two of the automatic qualifiers from the NW district and Jonathan Proffitt has a faster IM time than one of the AQ's from NW. In my travels to try to understand if this was a mistake, I learned that the proper website is http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/sd/sdrglts.pdf and that the following table shows the distribution. As you can see there is a wide disparity between Div I and Div II boys distributions. In Div I, NW has 1 while in div II it has 4. If you use Boys div II district Qual times, only 16.7% of the top 24 times in the state came from NW. NE had more than twice as many at 36%, SW had 29.2% and central had 18.2%. It is unfortunate that NW, which is the weakest district, has the extra AQ, but we have high hopes that the committee is watching and will change it next year.
