WHS swim team had a very busy weekend at Canton with two very competitive meets. The second, on Sat was the Christmas Invitational and featured 600 swimmers from both D1 and D2 schools. Some of the strongest programs in the state were in the competition. Prelims were held in the AM with Championship/Consolation/Bonus heats in the evening. For the girls, Rachel Theiler in the 100 breast and the 200 free relay team of Ellie Lebuhn, Sarah Gibbons, Caroline Duke, and Rachel Theiler returned in the finals. Rachel placing 11th and the relay 6th place. The boys had a strong showing as detailed below. Eric Lethander and Jonathan Rutter had exceptional meets. Jonathan finished 5th in the 500 free (1.62 seconds off of the WHS record) and 2nd in the 100 breast. Eric finished 1st in the 200 IM and 2nd in the 100 fly. The 400 free relay team of Lethander, Dierker, S Rominger, Rutter finished 5th. A summary of the results of those swimming in the finals follows.
