The WHS Boys had an overwhelming victory in the Districts. In 2009 they beat Turpin (now Div I) by 145 points. They beat Dayton Oakwood by 130 points this year. They qualified to Canton in 14 individual events and three relays . They were district champions in all three relays and the 200 and 400 free relay teams set new district records. They set the 200 medley relay district record last year and didnt break it this year. Owen Dunbar had a great meet, placing 2nd in the 100 free and 4th in the 50 free, while qualifying to state in both events. AJ Burt also swam extremely well, finishing 2nd in the 100 breast and 4th in the 200 IM. He also qualified to state in both events. Zach Fischer was 6th in 50 free and 2nd in 100 back. He also has two tickets to Canton. Michael Murphy claimed 4th in 100 free and 6th in 100 fly and both were within qualifying times. Pat Dierker finished 8th in the 50 free and missed qualifying by 0.15 seconds. He did qualify in 100 free where he had a 3rd place finish at districts. Eric Lethander had an outstanding performance with a 3rd place finish in the 100 fly and 5th place in the 100 free. He qualified in both events. Jonathan Proffitt will go to Canton in both the breast and the IM. He finished 3rd and 5th respectively in these events at Miami. Cameron Merten finished 2nd in 1 meter diving and is seeded 8th at state. Paul Hoffman qualified in 100 Fly after a 10th place finish at districts. The Champion Relay teams were: 200 medley relay-Fischer, Proffitt, Murphy, Dunbar. 200 free relay- A Burt, Lethander, Dierker, Murphy. 400 free relay-A Burt, Dierker, Dunbar, Fischer What a great team performance!! Wow!! Good luck at State.
