Congratulations WHS Girls and Boys Swim and Dive teams. Both had excellent League meets. The Girls were strong, but didn't have the depth to stay with Mariemont and finished 2nd by 314 to 411 points. The good news is that 89% of their scoring was from swimmers who return next year. Celia Oberholzer (100 back), Rachel Theiler (100 fly), and the 200 medly relay team of Oberholzer, Mariah Akinbi, Theiler, and Abby Gibbons were league champions. Celia set a new league record in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.21 and the medley relay team missed the league record by .08 seconds. The entire team is returning next year, so maybe they will get it in 2011.

The Boys completed a fourpeat with a convincing 446 to 329 victory over second place Mariemont. This win included two new League records. The 200 Medley relay team of Zach Fischer, Jonathan Proffitt, Michael Murphy, and Owen Dunbar broke their own 2009 record with a time of 1:40.47. The second was By Jonathan Proffitt who tied the record for the 100 Breast in 2009 and then broke it this year with a time of 1:01.65. The boys had 5 individual League Champions and 3 relay League champions. They were; Zach Fischer in the 50 free and 100 back, Owen Dunbar in the 100 free, Jonathan Proffitt in the 100 breast, and Cameron Merten in 1 meter diving. In addition to the medley relay, the 200FR of Pat Dierker, Eric Lethander, AJ Burt, and Michael Murphy and the 400 FR team of Dierker, Dunbar, Fischer, and AJ Burt were also champions. This has been an outstanding 4 year run, but the boys lose 35% of this year's scoring capability to graduation. They still have a strong nucleus and hopefully a good freshman class next year ( The Wyoming Middle School won the boys JR High championship this year). Dave Elliot was named Boys Coach of the Year again this year.
